Epson has recently announced that starting in the fall of this year it will expand its projector portfolio with two new PowerLite 3LCD units specifically designed to be used by small and medium-sized businesses.

The two projectors are the PowerLite 1221 and PowerLite 1261W and both of these sport a similar feature list, outside of the resolution supported, as the 1221 is an XGA model, while the 1261W projects images at a widescreen WXGA resolution.

At the heart of the PowerLite 1221 and 1261W stands Epson's 3LCD technology, which, in this case, helps the two projectors to deliver 2800 lumens of brightness.

The position of the images displayed can be adjusted by using the company's own Easy-Slide technology, which allows users to create a rectangular image even if the projector is placed off-center from the screen.

In addition, both devices offer advanced connectivity options, including USB Plug 'n Play support for projecting video and audio from a computer via a USB connection, as well as an HDMI connection to provide high-definition video content and audio.

"Small and medium-sized businesses are looking for projectors that deliver amazing image quality at an affordable price and have the versatility to be easily set up in any room," said Jason Meyer, product manager, Epson America.

"The PowerLite 1221 and 1261W provide users with intuitive features and exceptional quality at a great value,"concluded the company's rep.

The Epson PowerLite 1221 and 1261W projectors will be available starting in September 2011. Pricing for the PowerLite 1221 has been set at $549, while its wide-screen sibling will retail for $649.

Both the PowerLite 1221 and 1261W use the E-TORL lamp technology, which Epson states it can increase lamp life to 5,000 hours, when using the projectors in economy mode.
