As usual, for now only in Japan

Epson is one of the world's most important companies involved in projection technology research, and, over time, has achieved quite a few interesting developments in this field, one of them being the HTPS panels already included in the latest projectors from Mitsubishi and Sanyo. However, the people over at Epson have decided to launch their own model and came up with the EMP-TW2000, a projector that offers some pretty impressive features, available, nevertheless, at quite a hefty price.

Thus, as mentioned earlier, the EMP-TW2000 features thee of the company's 0.74-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 C2FINE LCD panels with D7 process technology, 12-bit LCD driver and updated OptiFocus engine with DeepBlack phase compensation technology. The device also provides a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast and attains a maximum brightness level of around 1,600 lumens, generated by a 170W UHE (E-TORL) bulb.

As expected for such an advanced, high-end projector, the EMP-TW2000 sports a wide range of connectivity options, including here 2 HDMI v1.3 inputs with support for x.v.Color, Component and composite inputs, S-Video, analog RGB and even RS-232C. Moreover, the device is quite silent, as it generates around 24 dB during nominal operation and is not exactly very bulky, measuring around 406 mm x 310 mm x 124 mm, at a weight of around 5.6 kilos.

The device is accompanied by a plastic remote control, which, contrary to the current trend in technological design, is very large, having very large (and frankly, completely unnecessary) spaces between the control buttons, not to mention a...well, low-end design.

As mentioned earlier, the device is available for now solely in Japan, but it will most certainly arrive in the rest of the world (or at least in the US) under the PowerLite Pro Cinema brand. It will retail for around $3,020, which is a relatively OK price to pay for such a projector, taking into consideration the advanced features it can provide.
