Epic Sets UT3 Xbox 360 Release Date

- Microsoft's console, finally getting some great multiplayer FPS action

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

Unreal Tournament 3 is one of the most appreciated multiplayer first person shooter games and its bigger brother
proved to the world that red teams usually win against blue teams. It also holds a few other records, among which the title of the first game to bring user-created content to PS3s. Not to mention the fact that it is one of the manliest games out there, as well as one of the most addictive. And now it will be made available for the Xbox 360 consoles, too - packed with goodies and ready to fight against COD 4 (probably).

Unreal Tournament 3 will be released by Epic and Midway on the 7th of July and we have no idea how much it will cost. We do know, however, that it's a game which has already sold over one million PC and PS3 copies, so it is definitely worth all the money.

And, as I’ve said earlier, the game will come packed with a lot of goodies, some of them exclusively for Xbox 360 owners. First of all, UT3 will feature a split screen mode which will be surely tested by fans on one of the five brand new maps especially designed for the Xbox version. Also, two new characters will come with this release, as well as all the previously released downloadable content.

The game will feature an exclusive video preview of the anticipated Gears of War 2 which will include never-before-seen footage of the game's multiplayer modes featuring new maps, modes, weapons and gameplay elements. Which definitely doesn't turn a game into one worth buying but, since we're talking about Unreal Tournament, which is a must buy anyway, it is a huge bonus.

"We're very excited to be shipping Unreal Tournament 3 for Xbox 360," said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. "This is a great title and, with two-player split screen support and some very cool new content, Xbox 360 players should be thrilled with this fantastic version of the game," he added and we tend to believe he's right.
