After lots of leaks and teasing, Disney and Junction Point, the studio of famous designer Warren Spector, have announced Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, the sequel to the original Epic Mickey, which now focuses on cooperative action as well as on music.

Epic Mickey was an impressive title that featured an interesting story but was weighed down by a clunky camera system and the fact that it appeared only on the Nintendo Wii.

With its sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, developer Junction Point and publisher Disney want to deliver an improved experience.

Besides tasking players with going through a rich world filled with characters from the animation company, the game also teams up Mickey with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the villain from the original game.

He’ll help out the gamer when he’s playing alone and can be controlled by a second player thanks to the cooperative mode.

"It's drop-in, drop-out co-op," said creator Warren Spector, via SFGate. "You can sit down at any time with a friend who is playing as Mickey, and you can take control of Oswald. If you're playing as a single player, Oswald will be there every second of the game. He's not just a multiplayer character. He's a helper, whether you're playing alone or with a friend or family member."

The game will also focus on music, as characters are going to have multiple moments where they break out into song.

"I'm such a geek about musicals. I love the co-op and next-gen stuff, but for me, when a character breaks into song, which they do on a regular basis in this game, it's magic," Spector added.

Last but not least, Spector also emphasized the work that’s been done to the camera system, which has received over 1,000 specific changes as opposed to the one found in the first Epic Mickey.

"We've had a team working on the camera from literally the day we finished the first game," said Spector. "They'll be working on it until the day we ship the second game. [There have been] over 1,000 specific changes made to the camera. Our goal is that you will not have to touch the manual camera controls even once to play through the main story path of this game."

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is out this fall for the Nintendo Wii, as well as for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
