Epic Games, the studio behind massively successful franchises like Unreal Tournament or Gears of War, has confirmed that it’s now working on a game that will come out exclusively for the PC platform.

Epic Games amazed lots of PC owners at the beginning of the 2000s with the stunning Unreal Tournament series, delivering a top-notch multiplayer experience.

Over the years, the developer started focusing on consoles, particularly the Xbox 360, with its Gears of War series.

Now, the studio has confirmed, via Joystiq, that it’s coming back to its PC gaming roots. President Mike Capps and Creative Director Cliff Bleszinski told fans, at last weekend’s PAX East conference, that a new game is in development and that it’s currently planned for an exclusive release on the PC.

One could guess that this game will actually show off the studio’s upcoming Unreal Engine 4 technology before the actual next generation consoles will appear with support for it.

Sadly, nothing is sure, so expect some more news from Epic in the near future.
