It seems that the hacker related troubles for the video game industry are set to go on, with companies like Epic Games, Nintendo of Europe and Codemasters confirming that they have been recently attacked and that they are taking measures to protect their customers.

Epic Games admitted that both its official website and its forums were attacked, but maintains that no important information was taken and that security will be soon upgraded.

Nintendo has admitted that the Nintendo Club service and other elements of its European website were vulnerable and says that at the moment no important customer data has been compromised.

A statement from the official European Nintendo website says “We have learnt of a possible phishing threat to users of the European Nintendo website which we are currently investigating. The protection of our customers is our utmost priority and so we have taken the precaution of immediately shutting down some parts of this website until further notice.”

Nintendo says that it plans to update the security measures for all its services before putting any of the services back online.

Codemasters says that those who attacked its servers were able to access all its corporate side and its sub domains and were also able to get to the redemption page that powered the VIP codes for the recently released Dirt 3.

Codemasters says that the hackers were not able to get access to personal payment details, but that they have details such as: names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, encrypted passwords and order histories.

This could then be corroborated with other data to get access to financial accounts.

None of these incidents is that serious as the April 20 attack that had Sony bring down the PlayStation Network and has resulted in the theft of the personal details of no less than 70 million gamers.
