Paul Meegan, a vice president of product development at Epic Games, says that the new Unreal Engine 4 title that his company is working on is not linked to the older Samaritan demo, despite what some concepts shown during the Game Developers Conference might suggest.

The developer says on Twitter that more information on the game will be offered soon but is not willing to share any details at the moment, probably because the new game is in the early stages of development.

During the GDC, Epic Games announced that Unreal Engine 4 is now available for all those who want to use it for a low monthly subscription and for a percentage of the money made from the launch of a finished title.

The company says that it wants to make game development more democratic by giving smaller teams a chance to employ the most advanced tools it has ever created.

Epic Games is working on an Unreal Engine 4 title that has already been revealed, Fortnite, which is expected to be launched later during the year on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Recently, the company sold the Gears of War franchise to Microsoft and the new IP is intended to replace it, so it might be using the core mechanics of the shooter genre.
