All manufacturers have to keep tabs on all levels of the market, as focusing on either of the low-end, middle or high-end segments will likely jeopardize said manufacturers' position on the hardware market. EVGA decided to offer something more to the low-end/entry-level areas and expanded its lineup of LGA1156 motherboards, a line that was revealed back in August and that offers, for the higher segments, the EVGA P55 Classified 200, and the EVGA P55 FTW 200. This new product, dubbed the EVGA P55 V motherboard, is now the cheapest in the entire line, but still delivers reasonable performance capabilities.

The platform features all of the essential components of a motherboard, namely memory slots, storage interfaces and expansion slots, as well as reasonable connectivity capabilities. Still, even though it is aimed at the low-end market, the motherboard still has SLI support through its PCI-Express external switching (two PCI-Express 2.0 x 16 slots at dual 8X bandwidth).

As a more detailed description, the EVGA P55 V is a square mATX form-factor motherboard, with the width/length measuring 9.6 inches (243.84 mm). The card is based on the Intel P55 chipset and supports Intel Socket 1156 Processors. In addition, it has four 240-pin DIMM sockets Dual Channel DDR3 for a Maximum of 16GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 1333MHz. The card is equipped with the two PCI Express Slots already mentioned, two PCIe x1 slots and also supports PCI 2.1. Storage capabilities are provided by the UltraDMA133 and the six Serial ATA 300MB/sec with support for RAID 0, RAID1, RAID 0+1, RAID5, JBOD.

The board features 8 Channel High Definition audio, four USB 2.0 ports (plus eight internal headers for a total of 14) Audio connectors (Line-in, Line-out, MIC) and FireWire.

The EVGA Entry-level P55 V motherboard is priced at $120. Complete information on the product, including purchasing possibilities and data on the rest of the P55 motheboard lineup, may be found on EVGA's official website.
