As we have stepped into a new year, several tech companies are reorganizing their product strategies. This is the case of Amazon that has reportedly shifted the majority of its Kindle Fire orders for 2014 from Quanta Computer to Compal Electronics.

Sources familiar with the matter inside supplier chains (via DigiTimes) forecast that entry-level Kindle Fire tablets are expected to account for 90% of Amazon’s total Kindle shipments for the year.

Compal will be in charge of the manufacturing process for the entry-level Kindle Fire models (with MediaTek inside) while Quanta will be handling the high-end model (featuring Qualcomm solution).

Amazon managed to snatch the number five position in terms of global tablet sales in 2013, shipping 5.45 million units and making up 4% of the total global market.

In 2014, Compal expects to see its shipments double from seven million last year to fourteen million tablets.
