Great news for fans of the “Entourage” hit TV series: after years of speculation and a couple of very troubled last weeks, when the rumor mill literally went into overdrive, the “Entourage” movie is finally and officially confirmed.

Doug Ellin will write the script and also handle directorial duties; he’s also the one who broke the excellent news on Twitter by posting photos of the reunited cast with the simple caption, “It’s a go. Love you all.”

Since then, Ellin has been tweeting and retweeting up a storm, posting photos and taking questions from fans. He says shooting starts in January but doesn’t offer a release date, so I guess we’ll have to wait a bit more on that.

Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dilor, and Jerry Ferrara have already been confirmed for “Entourage” the movie, while Perrey Reeves’ involvement is only rumored at this point.

If you’re a fan of the original series, described very summarily as a male version of HBO’s hit “SATC,” you must have heard some of the things people were saying online these past few weeks: admittedly, one of the reasons it didn’t happen sooner was because the original stars were holding out for bigger paychecks.

If that was the case, it’s clearly been dealt with.
