You’d never believe it if a friend told you that Reyna Perez’ latest music video, “Love Love Love,” was entirely shot (and probably even edited a bit) on the new iPhone 3G S. But, with such video capabilities touted by Apple, no surprise her fiancee (who is also the producer of the video) came up with the idea as he was waiting in line to buy the speedier 3G iPhone.

Announcing the fresh iPhone 3G S, Apple revealed that users would not only be able to shoot video with the device (something that wasn’t possible with the 2G and 3G iPhones), but that they would also benefit from amazing editing features, all on the go. iPhone 3G S owners now have their own video-editing studio right in their pocket. And it’s all as intuitive as it gets. For example, you just drag to select start and end points on a filmstrip, trim to that selection, hit save and that’s it!

A short history of events, such as how the idea for Reyna's “Love Love Love” music video came about, and other details, await below. (source BoingBoing)

Reyna Perez has embraced the concept of digital collaboration with her self-titled EP. She recorded each song in Brooklyn on acoustic guitar at a home studio and emailed the tracks to producer Michael Maurice (Curio Sound) in Denver. Over the course of 2 months, Maurice mastered her songs into full-fledged productions using Logic software and his own instruments. “I've given them a warm analogue sound, without using any actual analogue equipment; it's a testament to the times, and I'm very happy with the results,” says Maurice.

The final mixes arrived via ftp on Friday, June 17th, the same day the iPhone 3GS hit the streets. Video producer Ari Kuschnir, Reyna's fiancee, purchased the iPhone after a two-hour wait, made shorter by listening to the tracks. Hearing the new music and playing with 3GS, he had an idea. Why not debut Reyna with the first iPhone music video? “It became clear that the phone's camera quality was good enough to shoot a music video. It seemed fitting for the project.”

Over the next few days, the plan and the team came together. Within a week, through a series of collaborations much like the mastering of Reyna's EP, the video was complete.

As revealed by Apple’s SVP of Product Marketing at this year’s WWDC '09 conference, picture-taking is also highly improved on iPhone 3G S. Leaving aside the 3-megapixel camera, users can literally tell the iPhone what object to focus on.

Why don’t you just hit Apple’s website to take a look at the demo videos and instantly become an iPhone 3G S fan. Who knows? Maybe you're the next person to make “a first something” on the iPhone 3G S.
