Enrique Iglesias officially pulls out of Britney Spears’ summer tour, says it was a “confusion”

Just as reported earlier today, hours after announcing on Good Morning America that she was going on tour with Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears faces disappointment. A statement from Enrique confirms that he has bailed out of the tour.

After her 3-song set on GMA, Britney surprised fans with the announcement that she was going on tour in June in support of her “Femme Fatale” album, out in music stores now.

To make things even better, she revealed that she would be touring with Enrique Iglesias. Shortly after that, reports started coming in that he wanted to bail out on her for reasons unknown.

Confirmation comes that, indeed, Enrique will not be touring with Britney, though an explanation for it is still pending.

“Unfortunately, Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears will not be touring together,” Iglesias’ rep says in a statement released to Radar Online.

“Despite initial reports based on formal discussions of the possible run, Enrique will continue on his solo tour in support of his new album Euphoria,” the rep adds, hinting that it’s scheduling conflicts which made the collaboration virtually impossible.

“Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone,” the statement adds.

Nevertheless, the decision comes as quite a shock. If Britney hadn’t appeared on GMA saying that she’d be touring with Enrique, then fans could have bought the “confusion” excuse.

As it stands, having her on the show making the announcement and then hearing back from Enrique denying it leaves too much room for speculation, celebrity bloggers point out.

Some even go as far as to suggest that it was Britney’s lifeless performance on GMA (dance-wise) that made Enrique change his mind, though canceling a tour at the last moment is not really a decision that one makes as easily as that.

No replacement has yet been announced – and, since the tour starts in June, Britney and her camp need to hurry to find it. Keep an eye on this space for more details on this one.
