Today, May 4, we announce the immediate availability for download of the Enlightenment 0.19.5 desktop environment, a release that fixes a significant amount of issues discovered since Enlightenment 0.19.4, which is currently used by default in various GNU/Linux distributions.

According to the official release notes, Enlightenment 0.19.5 is a bugfix release that improves the core components of the previous version of the modern desktop environment and window manager by fixing bugs reported by users.

Among the most important fixes in Enlightenment 0.19.5, we can mention switch to the HTTPS protocol in modules, removal of duplicated symbol in the Bluetooth module, improvements to vertical and horizontal smart maximize, and removal of layer setting from deskmirror.

The client clip object will no longer be resized, the session will now exit immediately when unrecognized arguments are detected during startup, the deskmirror windows will now be raised on startup, the contact module has been removed, and eina_streq is no longer used.

Enlightenment DR 0.19.5 release includes many other improvements

In addition to the changes mentioned above, the Enlightenment 0.19.5 desktop environment include many other improvements, especially for the e-clients, e_shelf, e-xsettings, and e_ipc components. A crash that occurred when using the e_comp_object_util_center_pos_get() function with non comp_objects has been repaired.

Moreover, the submenu is now visible during scroll, a new function allows clearing of the app menu cache, an infinite loop that occurred when changing ibar sources has been fixed, an issue with the notification text has been addressed, and the default icon theme has been changed to hicolor.

Download Enlightenment 0.19.5 right now from Softpedia, but we strongly recommend that you check out the announcement page for in-depth details about Enlightenment's dependencies and how to build the project on your GNU/Linux operating system. On the other hand, regular users should wait for their distribution vendors to update the Enlightenment packages to version 0.19.5.
