Onkyo's CBX-Z20X: a nifty music system with a complex name

Onkyo is no stranger to great looks, especially when it comes to systems that are slightly smaller than your traditional AVR. Since these music systems are one of the preferred items in the Onkyo catalogs, their design has come a long way to reach present models, which are indeed worthy to be complemented for the way they look, and even for the most noble and aristocratic settings. It's the case of the Onkyo CBX-Z20X music system, a tool for those in search of an all-in-one audio gadget for their home or office.

Of course, there was no way to create such a nifty music system with no iPod support. Thus, the new Onkyo CBX-Z20X AERO boasts a docking port on the upper side, capable of accommodating iPod Touch/iPod Classic/iPod (4th Gen.)/iPod Photo/iPod Nano/iPod Mini.

Now, if you don't own an iPod, but are thinking about hooking up your traditional portable media player, you're in for a treat, as the Onkyo CBX-Z20X AERO sports a 3.5mm stereo Aux In jack. You also get a slot-loading CD player, AM/FM tuner, and a wireless remote control for your comfort. The cabinet is braced in a special way, using the Silent Reinforcement Technology, which allows the system to emphasize bass, and add more thump to your listening, without the commonly-associated vibrations and uncontrolled resonance that diminishes the quality of the audio response.

The Onkyo CBX-Z20X AERO boasts dual 80mm OMF cones, which deliver a full-range sonic response (20 Hz- 20 kHz), and can drive 5 W RMS each, just enough to fill a medium-sized room with a powerful and articulated sound. This Onkyo music system comes in a glossy, black finish only, and it retails for just under $550.
