Linux is a very customizable ecosystem and this is one of the main features of the open source world, the possibility to do almost anything you want with your OS. Every Friday, the Linux community shows its desktops on Google+, so we picked up a few of the most interesting to share with everyone.

A lot of Linux users don't choose to get anything else installed after they have their operating system up and running, so they stick with KDE, GNOME, Unity, and whatever desktop environment they opted for.

That is not true for everybody and there are quite a few users who try to customize their desktops. Some have more taste than others, and their choices in themes and other elements are rather interesting.

The screenshots cover quite a few operating systems, like Ubuntu, Arch Linux GNOME, Linux Mint KDE, Xubuntu 14.04 LTS, and Evolve OS. All the images are gathered under the #showyourdesktopfriday hashtag on Google+ and there are a lot more where these came from.

Keep in mind that most of the things you can see in the images can be easily achieved, with the exception of the conkies (the date, time, and hardware stuff on the desktop), which are a little bit harder to configure. With the minimum amount of effort, you can get your system to be really unique.
