14 DAY TRIAL // The Tiffen Company has released a “cool” photography app for iPhone and iPod touch, available at an introductory price for a limited time. Appropriately called Cool fx, the application offers 72 visual presets to simulate a variety of color and black-and-white photographic looks, diffusion, motion picture film stocks and optical lab processes. Cool fx is this week's App Store Pick of the Week and is already in the Top 10 of all Paid Photo Apps.
Made up of Black & White, Color, Diffusion, Grain, and Temperature preset groups, Cool fx is touted as “the definitive set of color and black and white film/photographic looks for the iPhone and iPod Touch.” According to The Tiffen Company, this unique software lets you enhance your photos just like Hollywood cameramen and visual effects artists do. A handy e-mail function also lets you send your improved photo the instant you've finished editing it.
“Whether you are an amateur or professional photographer, Photo Fx’s visual workflow and easy to use tools will help you create stunning images,” Tiffen says. The company is recognized for its products and engineering excellence, earning two Technical Achievement Awards and a Scientific and Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, as well as an Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. According to the iTunes description of Cool fx, “If anyone knows film and photography, it’s Tiffen.”
Cool fx offers the ability to select from 70 different color and black & white film / photographic looks, add realistic diffusion photos using a library of 50 different textures, choose from 27 grain presets to simulate popular motion picture stocks, modify color temperature to be either warmer or cooler using one of 18 presets, add vignette to any preset, modify presets by fine tuning sliders, and more.
