Faces jail because of his bragging

If you know you're doing something that is generally considered illegal by others, don't record it and then post it on the YouTube. This is the basic rule for all who enjoy doing things cross legal boundaries, but it appears that one man hasn't heard of it yet. Andrew Kellett, a 23-year old Englishman, runs for the "Leeds's dumbest criminal" award after he has been cited for uploading incriminating videos of himself on the YouTube website.

YouTube is used by millions of users who upload videos of themselves or other events on a daily basis, videos they think other people might enjoy watching as well. A considerable number of these videos display users doing things that are out of the ordinary and even hilarious, but most of them follow the general rule of not incriminating the people that are featured in them. Andrew Kellett must have thought that showing videos of his misdemeanors would increase his popularity level. That plan backfired when he was ordered to stop bragging about his criminal behavior on the Internet.

The 23-year old faces jail-time if he does not show up for the jury full hearing on July 15. He will have to explain the entirety of his 80-video collection, which can be viewed on YouTube, on his mrchimp2007 YouTube channel. These videos mostly involve reckless and high-speed driving, but there are also some clips showing drug use, theft, trespassing and other small criminal acts. The court order, under which the foolish Englishman has been cited, clearly bans him from recording his own criminal actions.

Speaking about the series of videos, Leeds City councilor, Les Carter, told The Times that: "Kellett must be in the running to be Leeds's dumbest criminal." He also added that: "In the last three years, we have seen a 32-per cent reduction in crime in Leeds. If more criminals were as obliging, the city would be even safer."

Videos of Andrew Kellett and his misdemeanors have not been removed from YouTube and can still be viewed on his channel. At least now he's famous.
