Consumers may not all be aware of this, but Enermax is actually celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, which basically means that end-users can expect to see a fair bit of activity on the company's part. In fact, it can be said that the PSU inventor is holding a full-fledged anniversary campaign that will last throughout the entire year. Even until now, the hardware maker has not been idle, and the LibertyECO II series of PSUs is sheer proof of that. Now, the ones behind this series have gone ahead and added a new member to its ranks, meant to cater to the needs of high-end and/or gaming systems.

Liberty stands for freedom, obviously, and, in this case, corresponds to the convenience brought to consumers by the modular cabling system. This system, by ensuring easier cable routing, also enhances the internal airflow and, thus, cooling efficiency. ECO, of course, stands for economy and eco-friendliness, traits obviously outpictured by the 80Plus certification that all members of the series have, as well as the 'attractive price'.

To be more specific, the new product is, essentially, a 720W power supply with an efficiency of up to 86 percent. It measures 150 x 85 x 140 mm, has three 12V rails, a 120mm fan and compatibility with the ARX12V v2.3 specification.

Furthermore, a number of protection functions have been implemented, as well as a feature which keeps the 120mm fan spinning for 30 to 60 seconds after system shutdown. This will dissipate any remaining system heat, improving reliability and the overall lifespan.

Among the special assets that Enermax threw in is an AC cord 'guard', which keeps the power plug firmly in place. Enermax expects its new invention to soon start showing up in gaming and high-end systems. The recommended price tag is of roughly 170 Euro.
