Just about everyone seems to be hopping on the USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed USB) bandwagon these days, and that's exactly the case with Enermax too, the company rolling out the brand-new Jazzmate series of external enclosures for 2.5-inch SSDs and HDDs, that includes both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 models.

For the time being, Jazzmate features three models, namely the EB2211S (SATA to USB 2.0), the EB211ES (SATA to eSATA/USB 2.0) and the EB211U3 (SATA to USB 3.0), practically allowing users to choose the model that best suits their needs and available connectivity options.

All three enclosures feature a compact, stylish black case with bright and long-life blue LED indicator, while in the same time allowing users to quickly install the drives without additional tools.

They also feature a silicon sleeve ensuring protection against shocks and don't require any external power source, getting the necessary “juice” directly from the port they're connected to, while in the same time being extremely portable, since they measure 134 x 78 x 16 mm and weigh just around 70 grams.

As mentioned before, the three Enermax enclosures support 2.5-inch HDDs and SSDs (9.5 mm maximum disk height) that can reach a maximum of 1TB, while in the case of HDDs, the supported drives can have speeds between 4,500 and 10,000 RPM.

In terms of speeds, each drive is set to deliver the maximum transfer rates available per type of connection, meaning that USB 2.0 enclosures will be capped at 480 Mbps, eSATA versions at 3Gb/sec, while the USB 3.0 model might go as high as 5Gb/sec.

OS support includes the usual “suspects”, namely Windows XP / Vista / 7, Mac OS 10.2 or higher.

The USB 2.0 and eSATA-equipped enclosures will retail for around 15.90 and 19.90 Euro, respectively, while the USB.30 model is slightly more expensive, reaching 29.90 Euro.
