There have been many times when a company's upcoming product was revealed ahead of launch, either through leaks or listings, but not often is such a device shown to be made up of components that are still unreleased. Still, it seems that such an event has indeed occurred, as the specifications of an upcoming MSI low-power notebook, namely the MSI Wind U250, have been listed on the Energy Star website.

The fact that an upcoming low-power laptop is listed on the Energy Star website may not seem all that surprising, even though most mobile PCs leaks usually come from the Federal Communications Commission. What is more unusual about the device is its processor. Specifically, the specs include a dual core AMD chip, possibly the still unreleased Athlon II Neo K325 dual-core central processing unit also known as the AMD Geneva K325 processor. This essentially makes the MSI Wind U250 one of, if not, the first dual core AMD Neo CPU-based notebooks.

According to the site, the laptop, described as a notebook/tablet (may or may not be a convertible tablet), will feature 4GB RAM, a hard drive with 320GB of storage space and an integrated graphics card with 512MB dedicated memory. This graphics solution may very well be one of the ATI Radeon HD 3200 series. Unfortunately, there aren't any details on the connectivity and I/O options of the gizmo, nor is there a mention of power consumption during normal operation. The Energy Star website only indicated an idle usage of 10.61 Watts and an annual typical energy consumption of 20.7 kWh.

The MSI Wind U250 12-inch low-power notebook will make its official debut sometime during the second quarter of the ongoing year and will come pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. The price tag is currently estimated at roughly $600.
