Although I am not actually a firm believer in these LCD screen e-Book readers that lately have been popping around all over the place, I have to admit the Energy Multimedia Color Book sounds indeed pretty good since it manages to come with a color 5 inch display at quite an attractive price.

Of course that doing so means that you have to give op on some features along the way, so you won't actually get an touchscreen or a high-res panel, but, then again, that 800x480 resolution pushed by this device is quite decent for a screen this size.

Wireless connectivity is also nowhere to be seen, so you pretty much have to rely on old-school USB connectivity if you want to transfer your e-books and other media files inside the 2GB memory that comes standard with the base unit (the eReader is also available in 4GB and 8GB versions)

MicroSD cards can also be used as a file transfer tool as well as to expand the storage space, the Color Book 1052 not being particularly picky when it comes down to the supported file formats, as it can playback a wide selection of formats including HTML, PDF, EPUB, FB2, CHM, DOC, WMA, MP3, JPEG, MP4, WMV, AVI and FLV files.

Other features include a 1800mAh battery, a page marking feature, multilingual user interface, the Color Book also coming with built-in speakers.

But the best feature of the Color Book is its price, the 2GB version coming in either red or blue at an pretty low 109,32€ price tag (about $156 US), while the 4GB and 8GB models are available for 122,88€ and 134,75€, respectively ($174 and $190).

At these price points, the Color Book comes as an interesting alternative to all the other color eReaders available out there, although you will have to go pretty low on features if you choose Energy Sistem's offering.
