This is a really strange piece of work, but one that might just catch on

We've seen lots of strange things on the technology market, we wouldn't have a Weird Gadgets section otherwise, and the small product that Genius has just launched, the Energy Mouse, may be this week's star attraction.

The reason is simple, although so unusual that it might take reading the words more than once to persuade one's self that what they're seeing is true: Genius has launched a mouse that can recharge other devices.

That's right, the Energy Mouse turns out to be quite aptly named, since despite its small size, it somehow fit a power bank inside its otherwise standard-looking form.

Well, we say standard-looking, but that's not totally true, since Genius did put some effort into making the newcomer aesthetically pleasing, with the metallic coloring (metallic Blue, Metallic Red, Silver and Pink) and the small rubber palm rest on the rear.

The way the scroll and extra button are arranged, and the asymmetric lines, enhance the view. Nevertheless, those are just side benefits that Genius tossed in to ensure that people wouldn't be ashamed to have the mouse out in the open.

In the end, the 1,200 dpi stands out most due to the 2700 mAh power bank feature, which functions independently from the special battery reserve that actually runs the mouse.

The power in the Li-polymer battery reaches the smartphone through a micro USB cable, while four LED lights show how much charge is still left. Obviously, people who travel a lot will appreciate the Genius Energy Mouse.

Finally, Genius included bidirectional 2.4GHz anti-interference technology, which lets the mouse work wirelessly with any compatible PC, tablet, phone or whatever else, over a distance of 10 meters / 30 feet.

Sales of the Genius Energy Mouse should have already started, so check with your local retailers if you feel you can part with $29.9 / €22.
