id Software and Activision have released a new patch for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars players. Version 1.5 of the game includes some workarounds and new functionality for the Mac dashboard. A few Mac-only changes are there too, so if you're a fan of the game, you should definitely update to the latest version.

"This is an official update for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars. This patch will update any previous version of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars to version 1.5. It is recommended for all users," the description says.

New Workarounds include:

New workaround involving switching between windowed mode and full screen - This only occurs if the window is big enough to go off the edge of the player's screen. There is a workaround that lets the user get back to fullscreen:

1. In the game, set the resolution to something small enough that the entire game window fits on your screen. 800x600 is a safe bet. 2. Quit the game then restart it. 3. Switch to fullscreen mode. 4. Switch to whatever resolution you want.

New Functionality:

- the Mac dashboard will appear whenever the mouse wheel is selected - the user can change their Dashboard preferences to disable the middle mouse button bringing up the dashboard.

As for the Mac-only changes brought by the latest Enemy Territory patch, fans will be glad to hear that the developers have fixed an issue with missing server launcher page tabs, but also a crash when clicking on server launcher pull down menu. Another crash during spectator mode on Valley map has also been dealt with.

Built using id Software's revolutionary MegaTexture rendering technology, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars features strategic team play and persistent character promotions. In the game, joining the Global Defense Force, players must face off the alien Strogg invasion. In order to accomplish this, they have an array of weapons at their disposal, but also vehicles to use in heroic objective-based battles.

"Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars raises the bar for next-gen console games with its variety and intense combat," said Kevin Cloud, Executive Producer, id Software, in a statement last month. "Whether you're playing online with fifteen friends, or playing a single-player campaign against amazing AI, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars delivers a new level of team play and combat strategy to the PS3 and 360."
