French developer Amplitude Studios has just released another teaser trailer, this time unveiling the fourth in-game faction from their upcoming 4X title Endless Legend, The Necrophages.

The Necrophages are an insectoid race from Auriga, skittering across Auriga's surface with a single purpose in mind: fight, feed, propagate.

The Necrophages have found themselves a winning strategy, to overwhelm by sheer numbers, to elevate the colony over the individual and to wage constant war, occupying their own niche in Endless Legend's environment.

The other races, The Vaulters, Broken Lords and Wild Walkers, all look to them as scuttling monstrosities polluting the surface of the planet, regarding them as nothing more than just mutated cockroaches, a menace that has to be crushed.

And they are partly right, as The Necrophages are a hybrid race, between an undead horde and an insect hive. They reproduce by laying eggs in the bodies of fallen enemies and incorporating traces of host DNA in their own evolution, the offspring thus accelerating the process of adaptation and change.

The Necrophages do not waste precious time with commerce and diplomacy, serving a much more primordial and relentless biological imperative.

Endless Legend is expanding Amplitude Studios' strategy portfolio, adding a fantasy title to its previous cosmic exploration and conquest game, Endless Space. As life is getting worse and worse in the fantasy world of Auriga, players will venture far and wide in order to discover the secrets of the planet, hiding a history of unexplained apocalypse.

Gamers will be able to pilot one of eight factions and explore the lost secrets of the world, finding out if the mysteries of legend are simply tales or whether they also exist in reality.

Players will be able to lead civilizations with unique gameplay styles and storylines, surviving through Auriga's unforgiving cold dark seasons that herald the planet's end by conquering, building and developing villages into wonderful cities and feared fortresses and by assimilating powerful minor factions and assimilating their special traits and units.

Of course, you are not alone in your exploits, and in your quest for resources and advancement you will come against formidable foes in an innovative dynamic simultaneous turn-based battle system.

The team at Amplitude Studios is currently hard at work preparing its upcoming fantasy strategy game Endless Legends for a Steam Early Access launch, estimating that it will be able to bring the game's alpha to the devoted community within weeks.

If you haven't seen the presentation videos of the other three revealed factions in Endless Legend, you can watch them on the game's official YouTube channel.
