Conservationists and locals watch these marine animals return to their natural habitats

Just recently, environmentalists in Thailand released about a thousand green and hawksbill turtles into the Gulf of Thailand. The end goal is that of helping these marine animals get back on their flippers, and thus, avoid their becoming extinct.

Apparently, the Thai Navy significantly contributed to this conservation project, seeing how the turtle eggs were collected by sailors and taken to a marine wildlife center to hatch.

Once the baby turtles became strong enough to be able to face the open waters, they were brought back to the beach and set free.

Given the fact that green turtles are presently an endangered species, and hawksbill turtles are listed being pretty much on the brink of extinction, it is good news indeed that efforts are made to help restore their population.

You can watch the video showing how the turtles were released back into the water down below.
