Andrei Dumitrescu: My love affair with XCOM: Enemy Unknown will continue all throughout this week as I continue two parallel campaigns: one on Normal with Ironman activated, which means I can only save on exit, and another on the Classic difficulty level, where I am fighting just to survive.
XCOM is a very deep game, especially on the tactical level, and I am still finding new combinations of abilities and equipment that can generate interesting and surprising results on the battlefield.
Despite its barebones feel, I also like the multiplayer mode of the game and plan to tweak and change my squad setup and try to finally win some matches after suffering a series of defeats during the last few games.
I also plan to get into some Dishonored and explore its stealth-based and action gameplay, as long as I have any time left after pushing ahead in XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
: My weekend will be spent shooting a variety of things, from demons in Doom 3: BFG Edition, to bandits in Borderlands 2, to different types of aliens in Mass Effect 3.
First up, I’m taking a stroll down memory lane with the Doom 3: BFG Edition
, as I didn’t really get a chance to truly play the title when it first came out back in 2004, due to my less-than-powerful PC at the time.
Now, while the graphics may not necessarily hold up, I’m eager to explore the Mars and defeat the variety of demons that stay in my way.
I’m now well into my Mechromancer playthrough in Borderlands 2, but I think I’ll be going back to my Commando in the True Vault Hunter mode, as I’m eager to explore the first bit of story DLC for the game, in the form of Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty.
When I won’t be shooting things from a first-person perspective, I’ll be busy with my Krogan soldier in Mass Effect 3, as I can’t wait to complete Operation Bloodlust this weekend by earning as many melee kills as possible.
