Andrei Dumitrescu: I know the big launch of the week was Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and that Activision would like every player in the world to play it and then become addicted to the multiplayer modes, but I have never much appreciated the series, even if I played it, and plan to eliminate it from my gaming diet this year altogether.
Instead of the tired first-person shooter mechanics of Black Ops 2, I plan to spend the weekend getting immersed even deeper in the fantasy world and the mix of strategy and role-playing game offered by Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, the new game from Stardock.
It will never be as successful as Black Ops 2, but Fallen Enchantress is a much more interesting game, where I am still discovering new ideas and tricks after close to 40 hours of playing.
I also want to spend some time with NBA 2K13 this weekend, exploring how the game virtually recreates basketball.
Andrei Dobra: My weekend will be spent doing all sorts of pesky real-life things, but this doesn’t mean I won’t sneak in a few gaming sessions here and there.
As always, I’ll be jumping into Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer for a few quick matches in order to complete this weekend’s Operation Gearhead challenge. I was already playing a lot with engineers because I want to unlock their mastery banner, so this task will be an easy one.
When I am not saving the galaxy, I’ll probably indulge a bit more with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s multiplayer mode, specifically its Zombies cooperative one. While the Tranzit “story” mode isn’t that impressive, there are still plenty of quality levels in the Survival one, so I just hope I’ll end up with players who know what they’re doing.
