Playing Anomaly 2, Shades of Darkness, Crusader Kings II

Andrei Dumitrescu: I’ve been playing both Might & Magic: Heroes VI – Shades of Darkness and Leviathan: Warships during the week, but neither of the two experiences is likely to hold my interest in the long term.

I plan to go back to some old favorites during the weekend, mainly Crusader Kings II, which is set to get a new piece of extensive downloadable content in the coming weeks, called Old Gods.

The Paradox-made experience is one of the most complex and most surprising games I have ever played and every time I fire it up, I end up using new strategies and discovering new ways of interacting with the game world.

I plan to spend some time with both the core game and a number of mods in order to re-learn its most subtle mechanics and be entirely prepared for The Old Gods, which will change the start date to the VIII century and will include more Pagans to play as.

Andrei Dobra: My weekend will be spent with a few different games, including a preview copy of Anomaly 2, the tower offense game from 11 Bit Studios for the PC.

The original Anomaly: Warzone Earth was a favorite of mine largely because of the all-new tower offense mechanic that added some much needed action into the strategy genre.

Now, with the sequel, 11 Bit Studios promises to deliver an improved experience, much more varied and more complex, with dynamic events during missions.

Throw in the fact that Anomaly 2 now has a multiplayer mode that puts one player on the offense and another on the defense and the new title is shaping up to be quite an impressive experience that should certainly be tried out by fans of the original as well as new players.

Besides Anomaly 2, I might jump back into Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in order to complete all the remaining side missions and indulge in the hilariously retro sci-fi experience.
