Playing Wildstar, Smite, Crusader Kings II, and South Park

Andrei Dumitrescu: This weekend I plan to spend a lot of my time exploring the world and characters of South Park: The Stick of Truth, the game based on the comedy animated series that airs on Comedy Central.

I like what the development team at Obsidian has done with the setting and it’s pretty clear that the original creators were deeply involved with the story and the creation of the various locations, some of which are hilarious without making an effort.

The gameplay is also pretty solid and keeps me entertained, even if at times I wonder whether I would have been playing the game if it lacked the South Park characters and world.

Humor and tactical battles can become a little tiring some times and I will try to unwind a little by playing some more Game of Thrones: Ascent.

My very powerful alliance has just entered another AvA phase and that means I need to be careful about my actions, launch waves of attacks at enemies, and coordinate with the leadership in order to come up with a solid strategy that can earn us an unprecedented third victory in a row.

If I have any more time left I plan to explore a little bit more of Westeros as it is recreated in a mod for Crusader Kings II.

Radu Haulica: This weekend is going to be little bit on the busy side, as I plan to carefully divide my time between three different kinds of online experiences.

First off, it's time to head back into Path of Exile, the free-to-play hack and slash game that just got a fancy new expansion, Sacrifice of the Vaal. There's all kinds of new content, but to me the most attractive thing is the full skill point reset that will allow me to try a different build on both my witch as well as my hulking marauder.

I'll most likely end up with the same build as before, with some masterful tweaks that will allow me to redistribute some poorly chosen nodes. But I expect to spend quite some time staring at the skill tree and making careful calculations, after which it's time to test out the new builds by smashing some heads and starting some fires.

Then it's time to head into the Wildstar beta and see what all the hubbub is about. The videos I've seen so far look good and I'm definitely excited to try out the upcoming MMORPG.

If only I had enough time now... MMORPGS are pretty demanding and I've upped my standards quite a bit over the years, not allowing just everyone to enslave me and turn me into a mining bot. I'm normally a fan of tab targeting and usually hate action combat, so here's hoping Wildstar will change my mind.

Lastly, I have a blind date with a brand new free-to-play MOBA that's about to kick off next week, so maybe that means that I won't get picked on for tanking up Ryze. Joking, I only do AS/Manamune builds on him.

I've played quite a lot of Dota and LoL, and I'm always curious about new points of view on the formula, such as the great job Hi-Rez did with Smite, which offers a similar but at the same time different experience, perfect for the moments when you just want to take a break from grinding.
