Playing Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Game of Thrones and March of the Eagles

Andrei Dumitrescu: We’re at the beginning of March, which some in the gaming industry have dubbed Second Christmas for the number of high-profile titles that are launched and mimic the mechanics of the holiday period.

But it’s still a little quiet on the release front, and that means I have time to play some more March of the Eagles, an excellent war-driven grand strategy title from Paradox, trying to make Prussia the dominating power of Europe in less than 15 years.

I still have trouble stretching my limited manpower in order to cover all the fronts I am fighting on, and still get heavily beaten up by the French and their boy wonder general Napoleon.

Between battles, I will also spent quality time with Game of Thrones Ascent, the social game from Disruptor Beam that uses the Westeros world created by R.R. Martin, an experience that could use some polish but deals well with the main themes of the book.

Andrei Dobra: My weekend will be spent with a mix of interesting games, as I'll mainly focus on my review copy of Tomb Raider. While I wasn't that big of a fan of previous games in the series, I was more than interested in their protagonist, Lara Croft, so I'm eager to see just how big of a change is made to the iconic heroine by this reboot.

When I won't be exploring a mysterious island and trying to survive its various dangers, I'll explore New York City in Crysis 3, the new shooter from Crytek.

Previous games have certainly delighted me thanks to the impressive Nanosuit worn by their protagonists, so I want to see what new tricks the old suit has and what new adventures the game can bring.

Last but not least, after the release of the Reckoning DLC earlier this week, I'm jumping back into Mass Effect 3's online mode in order to complete the weekend challenge and try to unlock as many of the new characters as possible.
