The multiplayer snake pit

Andrei Dumitrescu: The Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty single player campaign is interesting with Blizzard taking care to create an experience that has varied goals and narrative weight. I've finished it and even played some of the missions in order to try out a few things so it's time to play some Challenges, watch some online videos about build orders and then jump into the multiplayer element of the game.

Blizzard has said that it has designed Starcraft II and the new Battle.net with the clear aim of allowing all players to win in multiplayer at least some of the time. This weekend I plan to see how well I can down against human enemies in some one versus one matches. And when the universe of the Terran, Zeg and Protoss becomes to competitive for me I plan to leave the real time strategy space for the turn based one. Civilization V from Firaxis is set to arrive in September and I plan on revisiting the previous title in the series, one of the most complex and engaging experiences of my gaming life.

Mihail Cernea: This weekend I plan to finally finish the campaign mode in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. While I'm not entirely thrilled by the writing, the mission design is really something special. It is refreshing to play a game in which there is no assignment is the same. I have not managed to get it done until now because of my recent relatively unsuccessful attempts in multiplayer. This is a quite a hardcore experience in multiplayer that requires quite a lot of losses to finally grasp.

I have also engaged in the strange activity of achievement hunting. I have not been interested in these kinds of things until StarCraft II, but I really think Blizzard has done a great job in implementing such a system in the game. The Exploration section is really a great way to learn some of the aspects of the game and I strongly encourage new players to complete the tasks given there.
