Playing PCM 2014, Counter-Strike, Hearthstone, and The Last of Us

Andrei Dumitrescu: The launch of a number of new community-made mods and expansions has once again brought me back to Pro Cycling Manager 2014, just in time to be able to play the Cyanide-made game as I am watching La Vuelta on television.

It’s truly amazing what a dedicated group of players who understand the sport and the structure of the virtual experience can do, even if their resources are limited and they never get paid for all the time they put in.

With the PCM.daily DB and the ASO modifications, PCM 2014 feels like an entirely new experience, with much more competition when it comes to mountain battles and more realism during sprints, especially when the start of the peloton is involved.

The restart of the Barclays Premier League also means that this is a good occasion to jump back into Football Manager 2014, although so far I have been able to resist the urge to manage Liverpool once again.

Andrei Dobra: My weekend will probably be spent a bit more with The Last of Us Remastered for the PlayStation 4, as after completing it once again, alongside the Left Behind expansion that's already included in the core package, I want to dedicate at least a bit more time to the multiplayer mode, even if the lengthy matchmaking is a bit off-putting.

When I won't be playing on the PS4, I'll probably go to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, as the latest update has brought forth a suite of celebrations to mark the game's second anniversary. From chickens with party hats to confetti and balloons, it's a fun time to be a CS:GO player.

Last but not least, I might dedicate some time to Dota 2, as I want to win a game with every hero in my own personal A to Z challenge.

Radu Haulica: The Curse of Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure opened its last wing this week, so that means that I am now in possession of all the new and potentially cool cards Blizzard made for the event.

The first piece of single-player content delivered 30 new cards, one for each class and 21 neutral ones that can be utilized by all the different classes in the game.

The cards introduce a lot of new opportunities for combos that might just break the game a little, or at least deliver some overpowered matches, so this weekend I plan to make sure to make the most out of the budding interactions.

For the time being, I've got my sights set on a Paladin deck that uses pump effects and the Echoing Ooze minion, an interesting addition that summons an exact copy of itself at end of turn, keeping any beneficial buffs it might have gotten during said turn from, say, Blessing of Kings, Blessing of Migh,t or Sword of Justice (which triggers twice, effectively giving the second copy +2/+2 instead of the measly +1/+1).
