Playing Total War, Path of Exile, Sacred 3 and Game of Thrones Ascent

Andrei Dumitrescu: This is an extended weekend for us and that means that I might have the time to return to Total War: Rome II, the strategy title based on history developed by The Creative Assembly and published by SEGA, which has just received a major update from the team.

There are many changes made to the experience but the biggest is linked to the Artificial Intelligence’s ability to handle siege battles and actually pose a threat to the player.

This should make a full campaign more challenging and that means that it is time to once again try to take control of either Macedon or Pyrrhus and try to conquer as much of the known world as possible, taking out the Romans the Carthaginians in the process.

The title is very good at the moment, after a lot of patching from The Creative Assembly, but there are also plenty of mods created by the community for those who want more immersion or new types of mechanics.

Meanwhile my commitment to my Game of Thrones: Ascent alliance means that I have to continue sending out plenty of waves in the final days of the current AvA phase while also getting ready to see what the development team has prepared for the new World Event.

Blending social and solo experiences seems to be the best way of creating a solid recipe for a long gaming weekend and I might even mix in some Company of Heroes 2 for a more competitive element.

Radu Haulica: After playing and reviewing Sacred 3, I felt the need to play something that requires a little more strategy, as well as something that rewards you for the time you spend playing, so I installed Path of Exile again.

Grinding Gear Games is a pretty good example of how to do an action role-playing game right, and it perfectly caters to the old-school Diablo 2 crowd, with its mix of progressively difficult grinding and rewarding gameplay.

The game is set to receive a brand new expansion on August 20, Forsaken Masters, and I want to catch up with what's been happening in Path of Exile lately, before the new content debuts, and maybe further level up my frail but deadly Shadow.

In addition to this, I also have the Construct Wing in Hearthstone waiting for me, and I'm itching to get some new cards, so this should be a pretty busy weekend.
