Playing Hearthstone, Wargame Red Dragon and Game of Thrones

Andrei Dumitrescu: My long-term love affair with Pro Cycling Manager 2014 has cooled down a lot, which is weird considering that the game is now pretty much problem-free and that the community has begun to deliver some impressive mods, including new stages and a better balanced roster of riders.

I will continue to play a stage or two a day, but I have resigned myself to sim more of them in order to progress faster and to give up on winning some races that Trek Factory Racing simply does not have the personnel for.

My focus is at the moment shifting back to another old romance, Wargame Red Dragon, the military-themed real-time strategy title from Eugen Systems and Focus Home Interactive.

The companies have delivered a major downloadable content package for free, including new units for the minor Warsaw Pact nations and a major rebalance for all other countries.

Basically, it’s the best moment to jump in, as the entire community tries to decide the best strategies to use and the new state of the meta-game.

At the moment, my Game of Thrones Ascent alliance is also engaged in a very bloody and important war, and I will check in from time to time in order to make sure that I do my duty and deliver the attacks and the support that are expected from me.

This might be just a social game, but the stakes are high and the mechanics are very interesting to fans of the George R.R. Martin universe.

Radu Haulica: I've been playing a lot of Hearthstone lately, trying to see how the cards in the two Naxxramas wings fit into the already existing archetypes, and slowly grinding my way up (or rather down) the ladder.

I have never managed to get to Legendary rank yet, partly because I never seem to have enough time for grinding, partly because of that elusive 99 percent win chance that seems to be avoiding me.

In any case, I’ve been experimenting with some of my old decks, looking up new strategies online on IcyVeins and Hearthpwn, and I noticed that the odds were slightly in my favor, due in part to the fact that I now have a lot of the cards needed to actually make several decks work consistently, which provided a nice boost for my win rate.

This weekend, I intend to explore some of the classes that have seen a lot less love from me than others, namely hunter, priest and rogue, due mainly to my recent discovery that I enjoy playing as warrior, especially after opening Grommash Hellscream in a pack and thus having a pretty solid (12 hasty damage on turn 9) finisher for the deck.
