The Encinitas, California standoff which we have reported on earlier today has ended, law enforcement sources say.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has issued a statement clarifying that the suspect is deceased. He has been found in the 700 block of Del Rio Avenue residence with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

SWAT teams entered the property at 1:38 a.m., after they had used robotic surveillance devices 8 minutes prior to determine that the perimeter was safe.

The crisis has now ended, thanks to the joint effort of Oceanside and Carlsbad Police SWAT Teams and the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail in Encinitas.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working on identifying the gunman, and residents in the area will be able to return to their homes after the scene is processed.
