The 8-inch Android tablet has been showcased in Las Vegas

Most tablets these days are used for browsing the web and playing games or, in a word, for entertainment purposes, so one could say there aren't a lot of slates available on the market to suit the needs of creative people.

But EnchantMoon is here to prove us wrong. The device is actually an 8-inch Android tablet, but unlike the products we are all familiar with, the device doesn't come bundled with any recognizable interface and users are encouraged to come up with their own.

In addition, you should note that the 8-incher has been created with a stylus in mind and the only way to interact with the slate is via the pen.

The oddities don’t stop here, as EnchantMoon doesn't have a camera on the back, but one placed on the edge, plus a frontal snapper.

So, if you want to include a photograph in your text, users will first have to draw a shape and then write “camera.”

Afterwards, the shape will transform into the viewfinder for the oddly positioned edge-facing camera.

The process sounds a little counter-intuitive to us, but at least it’s something we haven’t seen elsewhere. EnchantMoon also offers a functionality similar to the lasso we have seen in the NVIDIA Tegra Note.

As such, drawing a circle around a part of a note will bring up a menu, so you can either edit what you have circled or move it somewhere else.

More than that, you can assign different actions to the shapes you have drawn by programming them in Javascript.

The tablet is pretty bulky and thick and it comes with a handle (you can either use for carrying or propping the slob), so it’s quite reminiscent in design to some rugged tablets we have seen.

The creative slate draws life from an AllWinner A10 1.2GHz CPU, coupled with 1GB of RAM and backed up by 16GB of internal storage. It also has Wi-Fi and two cameras (2MP on the back and 0.3MP in front)

The EnchantMoon was launched in Japan last year (for the price of $383 / € 281), but the producing company is planning to market the device in the US starting this fall, as well.
