When announced, the public beta for Emsisoft Anti-Malware 7.0 was available only as an update for the paying customers. Things changed today, as you can download the installer and test the beta for the new major revision of the security suite.

The most significant modification is replacing the Ikarus scan solution with the one offered by Bitdefender (signatures, too). It acts as the second scan engine and is expected to deliver more efficient scans and increased detection rate.

Also resulting from this change should be a lower false positive rate, whose high values were generally pinned on Ikarus.

The main scan engine is the proprietary A2, which in version 7 of the product should be able to check the files faster than ever.

Additional improvements refer to malware cleaning operation (registry entries affected by malware can be restored), real-time protection is now designed to leverage system resources to make it usable for other tasks.
