Less than a month after they announced their takeover of successful firewall product Online Armor, Emsi Software releases a new product on the market, which encompasses several free programs of the company, Emsisoft Emergency Kit. The application has recently been launched in beta stage and compiles several utilities under the same roof.

Emsisoft Emergency Kit encompasses the malware detection power of Emsisoft Scanner which combines two engines (Emsisoft and Ikarus), the command-line scanner, HiJackFree system analysis tool and Emsisoft BlitzBlank, a helpful instrument for expert users, designed to delete files, registry entries and drivers before Windows loads. All these products making up the Emergency Kit are no novelty and are also available for free. However, through this kit you have them all under one roof.

Although the three products are available in a single package, they have not been stitched together under the same interface. Emsisoft Emergency Kit has been compacted in a 102MB ZIP archive which can be decompressed to a folder of your choice. All the applications included in the suite can then be accessed by finding and clicking on their executable.

One important aspect that needs to be mentioned is that the entire Emergency Kit is completely portable. Thus you can carry it around on a USB drive and use any of the instruments it shelters on any computer you plug the key in. Also, as all the apps bundled in are free of charge, you don’t have to spend a penny on the suite either.

The main purpose of the suite is to help you detect and eliminate malware from infected systems, no matter how tough it clings. Emsisoft and Ikarus detection engine tandem comes with high detection rates, and can also be used to eliminate infections. HiJackFree offers great perspective on the system’s underpinning and allows management of running processes, services and startup items. And BlitzBlank, the last utility on Emsisoft Emergency Kit’s belt, can be used to delete locked data before Windows loads. Locked files, folders, registry keys and values can be eliminated at the next computer restart.

Emergency Kit from Emsisoft gathers plenty of tools to allow expert users catch and eliminate malware from infested systems. It comes free of charge and any of the tools it includes can be used portably straight from the decompressed folder.
