Empathy, a messaging program which supports text, voice, video chat and file transfers over many different protocols, is now at version 3.5.91.

Empathy 3.6 Beta 2 (3.5.91) now comes with support for Gstreamer 1.0 (--enable-gst-1.0=yes). The developers have underlined the fact that this feature is highly experiment and should be treated as such. It requires a version of Farstream that hasn’t been launched officially and telepathy-farstream.

Highlights of Empathy 3.6 Beta 2:

• The new roster now remembers the expanded status of groups;
• The passwords are now stored in libaccounts;
• The missing UOA plugin is now installed when migrating;
• Empathy no longer crashes when disconnecting the account;
• Contacts in groups can no longer be duplicated.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement.

Download Empathy 3.6 Beta 2 (3.5.91) right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
