Emblaze, an Israeli group of telecommunications companies, announced the release of a new push email solution for Java mobile phones, named emoze.

First released a few months ago, though it only supported Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 handsets, Emoze is now available for more than 800 devices, including lots of Java phones. According to Emblaze, basic mobile phones that are generally seen as "dumber" than smartphones can now compete with BlackBerry or Windows Mobile handsets when it comes to mobile email.

The features that emoze brings include: flexible layouts, cool web-like graphics and animated screen transitions. Furthermore, leveraging on SUN technology, the app comes with messaging and content wisely laid out in order to be similar to the one that users get on their desktop PCs.

The Java client of emoze is compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Web mail servers (Gmail, for example), POP3/IMAP servers and so on. Of course, in order to use the application, you need at least a basic data plan from your mobile carrier.

Talking about the new push email app, Eitan Linker, Chief Executive Officer at emoze, said: "This technology has been a long time in the making. We are committed to providing the most robust solution to the broadest number of handsets which fits into the emoze mass market strategy and serves millions of Java mobile phone users worldwide. Emoze offers users a never before seen user-experience that is not limited to the high-end smart phones. This experience is available to users with even the most basic of handsets."

The emoze push-email application can be downloaded for free, regardless of your mobile operator, from emoze's official website. For the moment, not all Java handsets are supported, but the Israeli company says that, in the future, they will be.
