Michael Douglas was one of the big winners of last night’s 2013 Emmy Awards, airing live from the Nokia Theater LA Live. Above is his hilarious acceptance speech.

The legendary actor was nominated and won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his portrayal of Liberace in HBO’s biopic “Behind the Candelabra.”

Also nominated in the same category, so running against him, was his co-star and good friend Matt Damon, who played Liberace’s lover.

In other words, Douglas had plenty of material for his jokes, which included one about how they should split the Emmy award, as long as Matt told Michael whether he preferred top or bottom.

However, the big surprise in Michael’s acceptance speech came at the end, when he thanked his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, who wasn’t with him because she was in China at an event.

The two announced they were separated in August, but all signs point to the fact that they’re working out their differences.
