Preston Hagman says TV Academy messed up by trying to have it all, and failing

At this year’s Emmy Awards, held live at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, producers didn’t just do one In Memoriam segment, in which photos of industry people who had died the previous year were included in a video montage. They also picked 5 other stars and granted them their separate segment.

Larry Hagman, who starred on the iconic “Dallas,” was not one of them and his son, Preston Hagman tells ET that the omission is disappointing.

If producers wanted to keep the In Memoriam segment, they should have kept it following a simple rule: all or nothing.

“I think three seconds was short. I think all of them were short. If you are going to honor [the In Memoriam recipients], honor them with the respect and dignity that they portrayed. Do it for everyone,” the actor’s son says, as the video below will confirm.

“These are very talented people. The actors that they're honoring have done so much for the industry... If you're going to respect and recognize them, then do it correctly,” Mr. Hagman continues.

He doesn’t say who shouldn’t have been included, but he does stress that his father was a trailblazer in the industry and, as such, he deserved a bit more recognition than he got.
