Sir Elton John wasn’t the only singer to perform a tribute at the Emmys 2013 last night: country darling Carrie Underwood was also on hand for a live number. You can see it in full above.

What you can’t see in the video is the superb introduction by actor Don Cheadle, who took the time to refresh people’s memory about some of the most important events after JFK’s assassination.

It also included the emergence of a certain boy musical group that took the world by storm and, at the same time, brought light and hope back in people’s lives: The Beatles.

Multi-Grammy winner Carrie came on afterwards to perform the aptly chosen Beatles song “Yesterday.” If you expect her version to be a faithful rendering of the original, you should probably not even bother watching the video.

However, if you’d like to hear Carrie’s own spin on the iconic song, I’m sure you will enjoy her version at least as half as I did.
