Michael C. Hall, star of Showtime’s “Dexter,” is officially off the market, at least for the time being. Last night at the Emmy Awards 2012, the actor debuted his new girlfriend, Morgan Macgregor.

Considering that, back in February this year, there were still plenty of reports saying that Michael had reconciled with his wife and co-star Jennifer Carpenter, word that he’d gone public with his girlfriend spread online like wild fire.

Celebuzz has all the details on the new woman in his life and, though still scant, they’re better than nothing at all.

“Michael C. Hall is off the market. He attended the 2012 Emmy Awards with his new girlfriend, Morgan Macgregor, proudly on his arm. The Dexter star held hands with his new leading lady on the red carpet for Sunday night’s awards,” the e-zine says.

“Who is Hall’s new girlfriend? Macgregor is a Canadian book critic who has reportedly been dating the 41-year-old actor since last May,” the same media outlet notes.

Michael attended the event because he was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama series, for his role as blood spatter analyst / serial killer Dexter Morgan in “Dexter.”

Also in the running was Steve Buscemi (“Boardwalk Empire”), Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”), Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”), Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) and Damian Lewis (“Homeland”).

Lewis won.

As noted above, earlier this year, Michael and Jennifer were photographed together out and about, acting very much like they had not announced plans to separate just shortly before.

This prompted a lot of speculation – and hope – among fans that they would try to solve those “irreconcilable differences” they wanted to get a divorce in the first place.

Judging by Michael’s red carpet appearance last night, it seems this did not work out.

Jennifer was not in attendance at the Emmys 2012.
