Even presenter Ricky Gervais was not surprised when The Daily Show With Jon Stewart won again for Best Variety, Music or Comedy Series at the Emmys 2012, so we can imagine Stewart wasn’t either. He still managed to make his acceptance speech a memorable one.

First off, the video below will show, Stewart tackled rivals Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert and, yes, though he’s no longer in the same condition as he was, he won.

Secondly, he actually got a bit emotional on stage, while talking about how amazing it was to have his and his team’s work recognized, especially considering they did topical comedy, “which has the shelf life of an egg salad.”

He went on to say that, when he’s no longer here, people would still remember him.

“Years from now... when aliens visit, they will find a box of these [Emmys] and they will know just how predictable these [expletive]-ing things are,” he ended with a smile.
