There’s no sense waiting until someone is dead to honor them, Kimmel says

At this year’s Emmy Awards, host Jimmy Kimmel came up with a brilliant idea: instead of waiting for someone to die before honoring them at such an awards show, it’s best to do so while they’re still alive.

So, Kimmel honored himself, with some help from Josh Groban and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”

Check out the video above to see how that played out.

To end on a high note, Kimmel included an apology (both spoken and sung) to Matt Damon, who had to be cut because he’d run out of time.

If you don’t know the Matt Damon joke, here’s how it started, more or less.
