Only one week before the 2010 Emmy Awards, “Mad Men” actress Christina Hendricks still hadn’t picked out her dress for the big night, for the simple reason that she was deemed too “big” for Hollywood.

In recent months, Hendricks has been getting lots and lots of media attention both for her role on the successful series and for her voluptuous figure, which makes her stand out from the rest of female stars.

As CBS News puts, it would be understandable if designers rushed to dress her for the Emmys, which took place on Sunday at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

After all, which designer doesn’t want to brag about dressing none other that non-size 0 pinup Christina, CBS asks. Apparently, no one, because she’s still deemed “too big” for the industry.

No “designer in town will loan me a dress. They only lend out a size 0 or 2. So I’m still struggling for someone to give me a darn dress,” Christina recently said in an interview cited by CBS.

Given Hendricks’ popularity and the kind of exposure she gets in the media, one would expect her to have no such issues with designers. One can only imagine what would happen to an average-sized average woman.

“Hendricks is medium-boned with a large chest. For her to fit into a size 2 would be nearly impossible,” Marisa Sherry, a New York nutritionist, says for CBS.

“The average American woman is a size 12, and I think it’s quite unfortunate that the fashion industry makes women feel like size 0 and size 2 are the only acceptable sizes,” Sherry, who specializes in eating disorders, adds.

“Hendricks, who is 5’8” and wears a size 14, ended up showing off her full-figured measurements in a gown designed by Zac Posen,” CBS informs.

Not only that, but she actually managed to steal her show with her curves and the exquisite way in which she carried off the feathery creation, a feat few other women could have probably pulled off.
