The media and the fans shouldn’t have turned on Kristen after cheating scandal

Months after Kristen Stewart was caught cheating on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders, and photos of the two making out in a parking lot were splattered all over the net, Emma Watson is speaking out on the controversy and coming to her friend’s defense.

Until now, Emma carefully avoided all questions related to the topic but chances are she thinks the time is right now to set the record straight.

Speaking with Vanity Fair Italia (quotes via Fansshare), Emma says the media and the fans had absolutely no right to turn on Kristen the way they did when they learned she’d cheated on Pattison.

Sometimes, people tend to forget that celebrities are also human, even if they’re rich and famous and appear as if wanting for nothing, she says.

“Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect: Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world,” Emma says.

“For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it,” she adds.

Even if that were the case, Kristen too is prone to making mistakes and, just like everyone else, she should be allowed to make her own without being judged for it.

“I thought that the media picked on her in a very horrible way. Kristen is human, just like everybody else, and she’s so young. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone. It’s not fair to consider them matters of public interest…,” the actress says.

It’s no secret that Emma and Kristen are friends, so it should come as no surprise that she’s defending her publicly.

Other celebrities have also spoken out on the issue, with the same goal in mind, including Jodie Foster, who starred with a very young Kristen in the thriller “Panic Room.”
