“The Amazing Spider-Man” didn't exactly fare as expected at the box office, but it still made enough money and earned plenty of positive reviews to warrant 2 sequels. If leading lady Emma Stone had it her way, her character wouldn't outlive the trilogy.

The reboot, which also stars British actor Andrew Garfield, has Spidey's love interest Mary Jane from the Sam Raimi films replaced by Gwen Stacy, who is played by Emma.

While Emma loves Gwen and her relationship with Peter Parker / Spidey, she'd love it more if Gwen died as in the comics, she admits in a recent interview cited by Coming Soon.

“[Fans ask] about whether or not the films are going to stay true to her story. Which I'm hoping they are... Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident. So the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing,” she says.

“Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it. But, of course, I want to stay true to that,” Emma adds.

She's referring to “The Amazing Spider-Man” #121, which sees Gwen come to a tragic end.
