Faced with constant criticism for her thin frame and plagued by reports that she’s starving herself to maintain her “Hollywood body,” Emma Stone is again rubbishing all such reports on the topic, this time in an interview with Cosmopolitan.

She did the same a couple of days ago, when she addressed concern trolls directly, telling them that she was healthy and kept an eye on her diet, making sure she got all the right nutrients.

This time, the “Amazing Spider-Man” actress admits to having some issues with gaining weight. She’s naturally thin but, in times of stress or extra work, she tends to get even thinner – but not because she doesn’t eat.

“Keeping weight on is a struggle — especially when I'm under stress, and especially as I've gotten older. That's the way my genes have decided to go, and things will change as time goes on, as does everything,” she tells the mag.

Regardless of what celebrity bloggers and regular people at home (not necessarily her fans) say about her body, Emma tries to focus on what’s important, no matter how much it hurts her to read nasty things about herself, particularly where her figure is concerned.

Obviously, what’s important is her health. She explains to Cosmo that she always tries to answer in the positive to the question “Am I respecting myself and being responsible?”

“Then I remind myself to be kind to myself, and as slightly ridiculous as it may sound, to treat myself in the same gentle way I'd want to treat a daughter of mine. It really helps. I'm actively working hard on learning to appreciate yourself no matter what,” she says.

“If what someone else says can easily derail you, it means your sense of self isn't that firmly established in the first place. It's an inside job. You're beautiful and worthy and totally unique. People insult each other based on their own insecurities — even though it may feel personal, it really never is. Really. Seriously,” the actress continues.

Which is not to say that she doesn’t have insecurities. She does, but she’s learned to accept that all those things she’s insecure about are actually what makes her beautiful, unique.

Emma is clearly taking to heart her status as a role model for girls. She’s always been very open on the topic of body acceptance and self-esteem, which explains why she’s so upset by talk that she might be harming herself to stay “beautiful” by Hollywood standards.
